Kathleen Burke Barrett, CFRE, CLU, has over 20 years experience in development and non-profit management.
She has a B.S. and M.S. in Business Administration from VCU and is an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University, teaching graduate level Fund Development. She also teaches the CFRE courses.
She attended Harvard University Graduate School of Business and successfully completed the course Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit management. She has her Chartered Life Underwriter designation and is an active member of the Estate Planning Council of Richmond.
Mrs. Barrett oversees all areas of Financial Development and Marketing for the American Red Cross of Greater Richmond and chairs the Disaster Fund Raising Action Team. In addition she sits on various community and business boards in Richmond and around the state and has received numerous awards in the development field. Her wards include the top award for fundraising in the state of Virginia giving by the Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives (VAFRE).
She is active in AFP, representing them on a People to People mission to South Africa. She is a past president of the Central Virginia Chapter and serves on the AFP Foundation Committee.
For the past two years, Mrs. Barrett has taught the Fund Development class at Virginia Commonwealth University which is a requirement for the graduate degree in Public Administration.
